Get everyone's consent before recording a conversation in Illinois
People are confused about the eavesdropping law. Eavesdropping methods vary from state to state. In this article I am dealing only with the laws of Illinois. There are exceptions to laws of police and law enforcement agencies. I am representative of individual and SME owner. For the average person, the law is very clear. Do not record a conversation with another person without consent. This means that all parties that are part of the conversation must agree to the recording. If there are four people talking, all four must agree with it. Even if two of the four people participate in the conversation, I can not agree to the conversation. There are two very important reasons that you either have everyone's consent or have not recorded a conversation. Firstly, records without memorable memories are not tolerated in any civil or criminal proceedings.
